00219: Printouts to a direct Unix printer are missing the last few lines

Title:

Printouts to a direct Unix printer are missing the last few lines

Description:

The Unix operating system seems to lose the last part of the output data (before it gets to the parallel printer) upon the CLOSE of the printer channel.

Resolution:

Set up the printer alias as:

alias LP /dev/lp0 “Printer” cr,execoff=”sleep 40</dev/lp0 &”

This adds a 40 second pause on the CLOSE of the channel. This will allow the Unix operating system printer driver to catch up and dump all the data to the printer buffer.
