00806: ‘Invalid or corrupt license file’ error message when installing a Basis License

Title:

‘Invalid or corrupt license file’ error message when installing a Basis License

Description:

An error message “Invalid or Corrupt License File’ can occur when running the Install A BASIS License menu item under UNIX.

This indicates that the user installing the license does not have WRITE permissions somewhere in the directory tree where they are attempting to install. It could be any single subdirectory or all of them.

Resolution:

The ‘Install a BASIS License’ program writes the 99PRO5_DEVPRO599999.lic license file to the directory where the BLM is installed (for example: /usr/basis/blmgr/)

The user installing the BASIS License must have WRITE permissions to all the directories up to where the License Manager executable resides to eliminate this error. If any directory in the tree is missing this the error will occur and the license must be re-installed.
