Description:

The amount of memory (RAM) isn’t relevant when starting Java under SCO Unix, it is all done in the swap space. 

SCO requires at least 550 Megabytes and recommends 750 Megabytes of swap space. 
This looks like 550,000,000 at the os level. (550Megabytes) 

SCO uses the majority of this swap space when starting the JRE. Once started, it doesn’t use or need this much swap space 

Under other UNIXes it’s more likely to see an out of swap size error if there are too many applications running and/or taking large amounts of the swap space.
