As vendors move applications from character-driven environments, such as Terminal Emulators, what was considered acceptable in terms of latency in character-based applications will not be acceptable with BUI/GUI applications. 

Thin Client CUI/GUI and BUI are all best below the 50ms latency. The Terminal Emulators are much more forgiving and can have acceptable performance with a latency 2-4 times longer.
