Protocol Not Supported error message starting BLM under Novell

Description:

Error Message displays on NOVELL Server when BASIS.NLM is loaded. “Protocol not supported” 

When you load the BASIS.NLM on the Novell Server the following message is displayed: 

License Manager: socket: Protocol not supported 

Resolution:

This error message is not fatal and should be ignored provided the BASIS.NLM is loaded. Type the following at the server console prompt to confirm if the BASIS.NLM is loaded.

Check the list of NLMs loaded for the BASIS.NLM. See KB#00768-Troubleshooting Novell BLM Configuration issues if the BASIS.NLM is not loaded
