How to request a Demo License

Description:

Demo serial numbers and authorization numbers may be requested when installing the BLM/BLS. All demo serial numbers are required to be registered on the specific hardware they will be installed. The demo license is a 5-user/5-day license. A BASIS licensing product, such as the BASIS License Manager (BLM ) or the BASIS License Server (BLS) software, is required to register all serial numbers.   The revision of the product you install will determine which licensing product you will require.  Revisions 2 through 21 of our language will require the BLM, while any revision 22 or greater will require the BLS.

If you already have the BLM/BLS installed, run the BLMAdmin/Admin or the BLSAdmin

BLMAdmin/Admin

If you have a standalone version of the BLM installed, you will have the BLMAdmin in your BLM/bin directory.

BLMAdmin selections to register for a Demo license:

Follow the prompts to provide your contact information. When you get to the License Registration Information screen, check the box to “Request an evaluation license”, the fields will be populated for you.

Next, select “Register and install a license automatically.”

Next Start or Restart the BLM.

If you have BBj/BBx installed, your screen using the BBj Admin wizard is slightly different:

Next, and you are finished Registering for a DEMO license with the BLM.

BLSAdmin

With Rev 22+ of BBj/BBx you will need to use the BLSAdmin, it will be in the BLS/bin subdirectory. To register for a Demo license select License Registration and Start/Stop the BLS.

Follow the prompts and fill out the license registration contact information screen. On the License Registration Information screen, check the box to “Request an evaluation license”, and the fields will be populated for you.

Select Next. On the next screen, select “Register and install a license automatically.”

Entering Next will reach out to BASIS to register the license. Then Start or Restart the BLS.

Next, and you are finished with Registering for a DEMO license with the BLS.
