KB – Possible PRINT Printing issue after Feb 2025 Windows 10 Update

It has been reported that after the Windows 10 Update (KB5051974) users are encountering a printing issue on SYSPRINT printers where all text is being compressed.

We have found that in these cases, the SYSPRINT alias line does reference a font or rows and column definition. So the default setting is being set by the OS.

For example:
alais LP SYSPRINT "Main Printer" CR,PREVIEW

The solution is to set the default rows, columns, and font on that alias line.

alias LP SYSPRINT "Main Printer" CR,PREVIEW,COLS=80,ROWS=62,FONT="Courier"

You want to use a font available on the system, so verify that your Windows system’s font directory has the true type font you want to use.
