How to shut down the BLM without using the Install script under UNIX

Is it appropriate to terminate the Basis License Manager (BLM) server by killing it? Is a nice kill any different than using the ‘STOP’ option in the install script?

Resolution:

There is a clean way to shut down both the basis_lmgrd and the vendor demon by typing 

lmutil lmdown 

This shuts down the basis_lmgrd and the vendor daemon cleanly. This method is the same as what the Install script does.
